Governor General of St Kitts and Nevis, Dame Marcella Liburd GCMG JP gifted tablets to 12 year old children of the armed forces and young cadets on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
The main aim of distributing tablets was to promote self engagement among children and families at Christmas, so that the young children are able to talk to their family members in the armed forces.
This initiative was also a Christmas gift for the children of the community, so that they can have a more developing and engaging future.
Governor General shared a post on the Facebook page, in which Dame Marcella shared her gratitude to all the donors who contributed to this great cause.
She also gave a tablet to Soriah Williams Powell, who was recently crowned as Miss Talented Teen while representing Verchilds High School.
During the ceremony she took photos with the children while they were receiving tablets and few with group photographs, which she later shared through her official social media handle.
About Dame Marcella Liburd
Dame Marcella Liburd, is a 71 year old Kittian politician, and is the fifth governor-general of St Kitts and Nevis. She is serving as governor-general of the twin-island nation since 2023.
She is the first woman to serve both as the Speaker of the National Assembly from 2004 – 2008 and the first Governor-General to be appointed by Charles III.
Dame Marcella Liburd has also served as the Minister of Health, Social services, Community Development, Cultural and Gender Affairs, as well as Acting Prime Minister.
