The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew is delighted to announce that they are very close to addressing the water shortage issue in Cayon. The authorities are currently conducting the final flow test for the well in the community.
The Prime Minister has cautioned the people of the community not to be alarmed on seeing several gallons of water flowing in Cayon. He explained that the authorities are checking the flow of water from the well they have drilled.
This is why several people may see several gallons of water flowing out at a high rate. However, PM Drew assured them the water was not wasted in vain.
The Prime Minister’s dedication to the welfare of his people is apparent in the fact that he shared these updates while being overseas in Dubai. He is in the country to secure partnerships for the country’s Geothermal project.
PM Terrance Drew and his team contracted expert organization, BEAD LLC to begin drilling in Cayon around Mid-2023. At the time of the beginning of the contract, PM Drew announced that the well will help address the country’s water issues.
For the last decade, the community has been struggling with a constant crisis in this regard. As the parliamentary representative of the community, it is the responsibility of the Prime Minister to find a lasting and permanent solution to the crisis.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew stated that the previous Unity government led by the People’s Labour Party (PLP) did not take any concrete steps to address the situation. On the other hand, the Labour administration led by Dr. Drew started making efforts to combat the water crisis within a year of taking office.
Since July 2023, BEAD LLC has been working on drilling the well in the community. In less than two years, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party has delivered on their mandate to secure water access for the people of the Cayon Community.
The Prime Minister’s efforts to address the situation have been hailed by the residents of Cayon. They shared that the situation is better under the labour administration and that the government is really at work.
The team has shared that the Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew’s efforts are bearing fruit as the community will have a reliable and long term source of water. The community, which had been struggling with water shortages for several years, is happy with the efforts of the team.
