Emergency medicine staff and professionals in St. Kitts and Nevis started their specialized training on January 27, 2025, at the JNF General Hospital as a part of the country’s medical advancement plan. As led by the Ministry of Health, this initiative forms part of an extensive plan to raise emergency care standards throughout the Federation.
Dr. Kaylah Maloney, a physician with St. Kitts and Nevis roots, together with board-certified physicians from the United States lead the program at its core. Breakdown training initiates with echocardiography alongside emergency lung ultrasound and advanced cardiac life support training while offering Continuing Medical Education (CME) about fundamental emergency situations.

Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew thanked Dr. Maloney for taking up the government’s call to support national development at the opening event. The launch of this program marks the first such initiative while being an important advance for health service improvement among our population said the official.

Dr. Maloney described the weekly plan to optimize triage procedures while measuring ER performance and investigating potential medical network relationships. Through this program hospital administrators will gain access to observer positions at Rutgers and other institutions to implement local practice improvements.
This early implementation serves as the foundation for additional continued progress by planning training content for stroke management along with abdominal pain treatment and procedural know-how and technique education.
