Dr Joyelle Clarke, Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment, Climate Action and Constituency Empowerment, in collaboration with Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources and Cooperatives, Small Business and Entrepreneurship and Sports Samal Duggins joined forces to promote a sustainable carnival.
Sugar Mas carnival has always been celebrated successfully throughout the years in St Kitts and Nevis.
Therefore, the Ministries are using the forum to promote the upcoming plastic ban to spread awareness and also to sensitize the public to non-plastic alternatives as part of the Sustainable Island Agenda.
Eavin Parry, Environmental Officer in the Department of Environment, unleashed bliss in the collaboration as it edges on the phasing out and banning of single-use plastics in St Kitts and Nevis.
Kevin Parry emphasized the negative impact of single-use items on biodiversity and society, urging people to phase them out.
Kevin Parry has announced that he’s forcing a force with the Ministry of Creative Economy and looking forward to working closely with them towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable environment, fostering a deeper partnership.

The Government of St Kitts and Nevis plans to phase out and ultimately ban single-use plastics, particularly:
eating utensils,
plastic bags,
bowls,
cups,
straws
Styrofoam
As it moves towards more environmentally friendly, biodegradable alternatives.
