St Kitts and Nevis: The Citizen Security Task Force in collaboration with the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) held an important discussion on Crime and Violence on Friday, October 04, 2024 at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park.
This significant discussion was held as a part of the National Consultation on Crime and Violence which is further a part of the 90-day campaign launched by the Government of St Kitts and Nevis with the aim to control the rising crime in the country.
Several key authorities attended the meeting, including the Senator and the Co-Chair of the Task Force on Citizen Security, Isalean Philip, Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, and other members of the NIA Cabinet.
Premier Mark Brantley took his Facebook to share his expressions on the discussion. He noted that he is deeply committed to this undertaking and confident that the administration can find the right prescription to solve the perennial regional problem of crime and violence.
Reportedly, the Professor of Public Health & Policy at Windsor University, Dr Jeanita Richardson displayed a presentation on ‘Understanding Violence and Crime as a Public Health Issue’, while the USAID delivered a Report on Criminal Dynamics Study in St Kitts and Nevis.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew shared glimpses of the meeting and extended thanks to the Premier and every other member who participated in this discussion. He expressed gratitude to all the attendees for coming together in the fight against crime.
Sharing the glimpses, he noted “Last Friday, the Citizen Security Task Force, in collaboration with the Nevis Island Administration, held an important discussion as part of the National Consultation on Crime and Violence.”
Notably, the 90-day campaign was launched by PM Drew to address the nation’s rapidly increasing crime and violence crime. This campaign features several activities with a vision to unite the society and take measures to address crime, ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens of the nation.
PM Drew has also urged all the citizens, stakeholders and others to unite together in order to create a safer and healthier society, promoting unity, resilience, and support within neighbourhoods and families.
