Twenty-three children from St Kitts and Nevis underwent Pediatric Orthopedic medical care last weekend at the JNF Hospital. This medical assistance was provided during the World Pediatric Project Pediatric Orthopedic Diagnostic Clinic session.
The session featured various specialized physical therapy programs and specific medical equipment to assist children who needed it, such as braces and shoe inserts.
It was hosted by the Pediatric Assistance League of St Kitts and Nevis. During the process, Out of these twenty-three children, seven of them were referred for overseas surgery in 2024 and the rest of them have been taken for possible future surgeries.
The visiting medical team included Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Gordon of St Louis Children’s Hospital and Shriner’s Hospital for Children along with Pediatric Orthopedic Nurse Melissa Eagen, Physical Therapist Abby Marcouiller and Orthotist Dave Osterman.
The Pediatric Assistance League of St Kitts and Nevis were overwhelmed with the successful outcome of the event. They also Specially thanked the nursing team at the Outpatient Clinic, Matron Williams-Tuckett, Radiographer Joel Patrick and Dr. Hendrickson for working together with them and coordinating this clinic alongside Dr Gordon during each patient evaluation.
Further, PALS was also grateful to their donors for all the financial assistance to make such initiatives possible. They also assured the communities to remain dedicated to providing opportunities to bring specialized pediatric care to children of St Kitts and Nevis.
“In 2024, PALS looks forward to working with the World Pediatric Project to host a Pediatric Scoliosis Clinic, a Pediatric Cardiology Clinic and a Neonatal Training Clinic in St Kitts and Nevis,” it further noted.

Notably, the Pediatric Assistance League of St Kitts and Nevis is a Nonprofit Organisation, which works to provide better access to healthcare and undertake medical treatment for those in need. They also worked to contribute and help people with financial medical assistance.
