Premier Mark Brantley of Nevis has revealed that a letter has been sent to Governor-General Sir Tapley Seaton of St Kitts and Nevis, suggesting that the majority of elected members of the National Assembly do not support Dr Timothy Harris’s continuation as Prime Minister.
They are currently waiting for a response. Members of the Prime Minister’s tripartite coalition have given him an ultimatum to either fix developing concerns in the Team Unity Government or dissolve the legislature, paving the path for new general elections.
Brantley, the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement, one of the coalition’s three parties, claims an email response to the ultimatum arrived at 1:51 a.m. on Thursday, but branded it “a futile exercise.” Several issues have been simmering, including questions about the Citizenship by Investment Program’s transparency. Ministerial positions are also a source of concern.
The Team Unity government of St Kitts and Nevis is undergoing some political indifferences within the alliance. The People’s Action Movement (PAM) and Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) are questioning the conducts of People’s Labour Party leader, and Prime Minister Timothy Harris. He is facing allegations of not giving a fair share to sister Island of Nevis, and lack of transparency within the Ministry of Finance, of which Prime Minister is the incharge.
In a press conference on Thursday, the leader of People’s Action Movement and Deputy Prime Minister Shawn Richards said, “We no longer support, nor do we have any confidence in Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris,”.
