A mother to a 14-year-old son is seeking justice after the son alleged that a pastor sodomised him in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The mother is outraged that the police did not apprehend the pastor immediately after she made the report. The delay from the side of the police gave him time to resign from the church and flee the country after he gave a backhand confession in which he had apologised for abusing the child.
According to the mother of the boy, the young pastor was at the Claremont Seventh-day Adventist Church, where her family worshipped. At that time, the pastor befriended the family before he was transferred to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Little London.
On the other hand, the leadership of the church group has said that they were aware of the allegations against the pastor, who has since resigned and that was not why he was transferred.
The church, trying to distance itself from the sexual predator said that the Bible condemns child sexual abuse in the strongest terms and senses.
It sees any attempt to confuse or denigrate personal, generational, or gender boundaries through sexually abusive behaviour as an act of betrayal and a gross violation of personhood.
The holy Bible openly condemns abuses of power, authority, and responsibility because these things strike at the very heart of the victims and also at their deepest feelings about themselves, others, and God, and in turn, shatter their capacity to love and trust anyone.
All the clarification and distancing by the church is not enough for the mother, who is constantly demanding justice for her son. She said that back in September 2017, her son had aced the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) after which, the pastor offered to take him to lunch as a treat which was also part of his gift for the boy’s birthday. When her son came home, he had a mobile, and when she asked that where did it come from, the son had told her that the pastor had given it to him.
