Based on the number of cases which have been reported over the last 48 hours, on average, there is one new case of the COVID-19 in Haiti every seven minutes.
Haiti has recorded around 500 cases over the past 2 days, health authorities said that of the 124 new cases of the virus have been reported in the past 24 hours, which has brought the total number of cases of the virus to 3,662 since the first case of the virus was discovered in the country on March 19.
The Ministry of Public Health has said that two new deaths have also been reported in the country, including the deaths of a child under the age of nine.
This has brought the total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic in the country to 56.
The ministry has said that there are now 3,582 active cases of the virus and that the country is recording a new confirmed case of the virus every seven minutes, particularly over the past 48 hours.
The Ministry added that over the last 32 days, there were 3,615 new cases of the virus, an average of one case every 12 minutes.
Guy François Junior, Citizenship and Patriotism Minister, said that nearly nine million masks have been distributed throughout the country already.
Meanwhile, the Haitian Embassy in Santo Domingo has distanced itself from what it claims to be a piece of fake news which is circulating on social networks, indicating that the Haitians living in the Dominican Republic would benefit from the financial aid during the pandemic.
The mission has said that it has not been informed about the organisations or institutions, neither Dominican, Haitian nor foreign, have set up an emergency fund via a bank based in the Dominican Republic for the Haitian nationals living in the country.
