Guyana: Police Authorities of Division #5 are investigating the report of the alleged Murder of Richard Persaud, aka “Rasho, a 42-year-old rice farmer of Wash Clothes Mahaicony, ECD, in Guyana. The Murder took place on September 20, at 9:30 PM at Wash Clothes Mahaicony.
On starting investigations, the Police found out that on Tuesday, at about 5:00 PM, the murder victim was cooking and consuming alcohol in front of the house of the deceased’s friend. He was accompanied by a 34-year-old labourer, a 47-year-old rice farmer, and another male. They were all from Wash Clothes
According to an eyewitness, at 9:30 PM, he saw a 25-year-old rice farmer of Johanna Creek, Mahaicony in Guyana, driving his tractor. The farmer hit the left side back wheel of motor truck #GEE 4715, owned by the 34-year-old friend of the deceased, which was parked on the western side of Wash Clothes road, causing damages.
The tractor driver’s 36-year-old brother, who is also a rice farmer of Johana Creek Mahaicony, in Guyana was driving in his car behind the tractor.
An argument started between the 34-year-old friend of the deceased and the 36-year-old suspect. The man then went into his motor car, collected an object and stabbed him.
Friends of the deceased then beat up the suspect, following which he ran into the yard, and they ran after him.
It became unclear what transpired afterwards as no one saw the murder victim, Richard, again that evening. He didn’t even return home that evening, prompting his family to search for him.
On September 21, 2022, at 09:00 AM, a body was seen floating in a trench in front of the 34-year-old’s home at Wash Clothes Mahaicony. Police were summoned to the scene and saw that the body was floating in a trench.
The body was fished out from the water and examined by a police rank. The Authorities found a stab wound in the middle of the victim’s chest and bruises on his left eye.
He was identified to be Richard Persaud by his wife. The body was escorted to the Mahaicony Public Hospital, Guyana where it was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. It was then escorted to Bailey’s Funeral Parlour, awaiting PME. Further investigations regarding the murder case are in progress.
