The Government of Grenada has confirmed that it is the first Caribbean destination to welcome back yacht arrivals.
The first yacht arrivals had returned to Grenada last week since the country had closed its seaports to recreational vessels in late March.
The Government of the country also added that Grenada is facilitating the arrivals under strict health and safety protocols.
Officials from the Ministry of Health of Grenada are present for performing the screenings of yachters, including the temperature testing for the yacht passengers.
Yacht passengers had arrived at a designated dock at the Camper & Nicholsons’ Port Louis Marina.
Yachts which seek to arrive in Grenada must be pre-registered into the country’s GRENADA LIMA database before they are given pre-clearance.
The yachts are then placed under a 14-day quarantine at two approved locations.
At the end of the quarantine period, the crew of the yacht would be given formal immigration clearance, after they receive a negative COVID-19 test and a health clearance.
Grenadian officials said it had prepared provisioning protocols for the two quarantine sites: the Port Louis Marina and Carriacou Marine, for yachts needing water, essential supplies and fuel during the quarantine.
The Government said just over 700 yachts had been registered and scheduled; they will be facilitated through the plan over the coming months.
