The burnt remains of the three bodies which had been found on Saturday at Beach Road, Point Morant, in St Thomas, have been identified as that of Lexton Clayton, a 21-year-old female Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldier; her child, 2-year-old Tyler Taylor; and the father of her child, 28-year-old Kimani Taylor.
Police in St Thomas was unable to determine the circumstances up to press time last night that what had led to the death of this young couple and their son.
However, it was alleged that the couple had had some relationship challenges.
The police have reported that Taylor, who was a security guard with the Portland Municipal Corporation, rented a Nissan Latio car for two days on Saturday morning.
The owner of the car has said that he had received a call from Taylor early afternoon on Saturday and Taylor had told him that he was in St Thomas and that he had developed a difficulty, after which, the call had ended abruptly.
Attempts were made by the owner to reach Taylor again by phone, but they proved futile. The owner had then engaged the vehicle’s electronic tracking system to locate his car, which had been seemingly abandoned in the Pear Tree River community.
According to the police, a piece of rope, which seemed to be new and a child restraint seat were found inside the car.
The owner of the vehicle also said that these items were not in the car when he had handed it over to Taylor under a two-day rental arrangement.
Reports from the police are that after collecting the rental Taylor, who is from Cornwall Barracks in Portland, picked up his son. It is believed he then received Clayton from JDF headquarters, Up Park Camp, in Kingston, and the three-headed for her home town in Bransbury District, Yallahs, St Thomas.
The Port Morant police are still investigating the matter.
