The Afri Caribbean Investment Summit, which was being hosted in Abuja Nigeria, from March 23 to March 28 has concluded successfully. The event was focussed on the enduring connection being created between Africa and The Caribbean Region.
During this programme, Dr Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis was accompanied by a historic delegation consisting of several stakeholders from various sectors of the country.
The main focus of the summit was to improve the working relationship, trade and investment opportunities between the two regions. The Prime Minister of the country delivered a keynote address on the third day of the summit and talked about the history that connects the two regions. He also spoke about the trans atlantic slave trade and how far they have come now.
As the event concluded, PM Drew spoke once again during the final day of the event.
Dr Terrance Drew said that the partnership that exists between the partnership between Africa and the Caribbean is now irreversible.
These remarks were part of the Prime Minister’s Closing address at the event. He once again took the opportunity to reflect on the outcomes of the summit. Dr Drew also addressed the broader movement toward reconnection.
During this summit, Prime Minister Dr Drew has repeatedly asserted that the collaboration between Caribbean and Africa can bring several positive results. He said, “as we continue to work together, we would achieve greater things.”
Dr Drew further added that the relationship between Caribbean and Africa is not only based on the historic roots that they share. It is also being cultivated in the shared future built on cooperation, trade, and mutual advancement.
In his closing Remarks, Dr Drew highlighted some of the positive steps which have been witnessed during this time. He spoke about the successful passage of a United Nations resolution recognizing the transatlantic slave trade as a crime against humanity. He also called this moment defining for people of African descent globally.
