Four students from Verchild’s High School students have received the Samal Duggins Finding Your Passion Scholarship. The recipients of the scholarship are Travis Sutton, Ju’Sana Hughes, Devonna Forde and Lejon Daniel.
The theme for this year’s scholarship was, “Ignite: Find Your Passion. Fuel Your Purpose. Shape Your Future.” The officials have shared that Minister Samal Duggins presided over an event to present the scholarships to the students. The officials have shared that the event celebrated the children who received the scholarships.
The officials have shared that they also appreciated the success of the children who have been part of the journey previously. Minister Samal Duggins called the scholarship programme more than financial assistance. They highlighted that the programme focuses on helping young people identify their interests.
The officials highlighted that they helped the students in developing their confidence, broadened their exposure. The officials have shared that they encourage the children to think intentionally about the future they want to build.
The programme has been supporting children for several years by providing them with mentorship, developmental opportunities and educational experiences and developmental opportunities
Travis Sutton, Ju’Sana Hughes, Devonna Forde and Lejon Daniel formed the fifth cohort of students to receive the scholarships. During the scholarship handover ceremony, the Minister of Agriculture, fisheries, marine resources and creative economy et al also celebrated the progress of students in Cohorts 3 and 4.
The Minister further confirmed that the students from Cohorts 1 and 2 were also present at the event. The students have returned to support and mentor the students who are coming after them. This particularly highlights the mandate of the organisation to support the youth of the country.
