The St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee (SKNOC) is hosting a two-day Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) Workshop. The event will be hosted for two days starting on September 10, 2026. The event will conclude the following day on Friday, September 11, 2026.

The workshop will be attended by stakeholders of Olympic sports and associated activities including teachers, coaches, sport administrators, and community leaders. The aim of the workshop is to promote Olympic values in schools, sports organizations, and community life.

The St Kitts Olympics Committee has shared that the event has been designed to give the participants of the event the fools that they need to implement OVEP. The workshop will make use of a mix of activities, theory, group work, and reflection.

The workshop wants to send the message that, “Sport is not only a vehicle for competition, but a powerful educational tool which is capable of shaping the character and life skills of young people.”

On the first day, the workshop organisers will help in laying the foundation and informing the participants about the educational mission of the Olympic Movement. The participants will also learn about the philosophy, structure, and resources behind OVEP. The first day will feature icebreakers, practical learning activities, and group exercises which will be focused on identifying Olympic values in everyday life. The attendees will experience the learner-centered methodologies that make OVEP an effective teaching framework.

Day Two will move from learning to action. Participants will participate in “OVEP Lab” which will help to design and evaluate the participants’ own learning activities. The participants will learn how Olympic values intersect with digital communities like responsible social media use, AI, and digital citizenship. The participants will also engage in a Fair Play Simulator exercise.

During the workshop, the participants will learn in detail about the foundational Olympic values of respect, friendship, and excellence. They will also be engaging in learning about broader life skills including leadership, cooperation, inclusion, empathy, communication, and responsibility. Sessions will also be hosted to bring focus to digital citizenship. These sessions will address issues like ethical participation in social media, prevention of cyberbullying, media literacy, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
