The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis addressed the media of St Kitts and Nevis on November 25, 2026. During the November 2025 edition of the meda roundup, Dr Terrance Drew spoke about the new fleet of five ambulances which arrived in St Kitts and Nevis during the previous month.
During the programme, Dr Drew confirmed that the US $1.7 Million investment which the government has made in the procurement of the ambulances is the single largest investment that has been made in an ambulance fleet in the history of the nation.
The Prime Minister, who has studied to become a medical doctor and had an active practice, underscored the importance of this development during the Roundtable. The officials have shared that it is important for the nation to have an active fleet of emergency vehicles.
The ambulances have been secured after several delays but the people of St Kitts and Nevis now have the modern emergency fleet. This has been made possible due to the perseverance of the Ministry of Health and consistent support from the stakeholders of the healthcare sector.
The Prime Minister has extended his gratitude to the staff and management of the GNF General Hospital for their professionalism and their patience as the nation worked to secure the ambulances throughout 2025 and for part of the last year. He acknowledged that the people of the country have had to face challenges in accessing medical support and delays of ambulances
The addition of the state of the art ambulances to the national fleet has alleviated the issues and now the people can access emergency lifesaving medical support safely right here in St Kitts and Nevis.
The Prime Minister was proud to announce that the people of the country will not wait for the ambulances and hear that there is none available because it is here and now it is done. The Prime Minister has also thanked the involved partners for their collaboration and support for the last few years.
