The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew organised an ASPIRE Savings Account Deposit Exercise. The aim of the exercise is to ensure that the administration can continue to promote financial literacy. They want to use the opportunity to turn bookish learning into a hands-on learning experience for students in St Kitts and Nevis.

The ASPIRE Programme was launched in the year 2024 with the aim of ensuring that the youngsters can cultivate financial literacy. The officials have shared that the people of the island have been dedicated to making sure that the financial future of the people remains safe

ASPIRE Savings Account Deposit Exercise was organised through the ASPIRE Programme. The St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank supported the initiative as a collaborator and partner.

The initiative is another important step  to help the youngsters get access to knowledge, skills, and confidence to develop responsible financial habits from an early age.

The interactive exercise was aimed towards giving the participating students their first real banking experience. During the ASPIRE Savings Account Deposit Exercise, the children were given the chance to complete deposit slips, engage with bank tellers, and make deposits into their personal savings accounts.

All of these activities introduce them to the value of saving and sound financial planning in a practical and meaningful way.

Additionally, Prime Minister Dr Drew was also present at the event. To encourage the children, Dr Drew personally matched each student’s deposit dollar-for-dollar, up to a maximum of EC$200 per student. For example, a student who deposited EC$50 received an additional EC$50 from the Prime Minister, doubling the value of their savings to EC$100.

The ASPIRE Savings Account Deposit Exercise reflects the Government’s continued commitment to empowering the next generation. The administration is dedicated to making sure that the children have access to facilities that they need to secure their financial future.

The officials have shared that it is important for the people of the country to understand the importance of investing.
