Historic Achievement recorded for SKNLP, Opposition Attacks Petty and Misleading

Social media is once again abuzz with negativity from the opposition fuelled narratives with respect to the new Headquarters of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party. The opposition has claimed that the party headquarters is the only promise that the Terrance drew led administration has been able to fulfil. 

The opposition is painting what should have been a proud moment for the nation into doom and gloom as has been their USP. The opposition and their media outlets want the public to believe that the nation is going backwards while that is not the case.

The opposition has been accusing the government of not delivering the 2400 climate smart homes, alleging that securing a permanent headquarters was a priority for the SKNLP. Here, it becomes extremely important to clarify that the headquarters building is not a structure that has been constructed out of the taxpayer’s money. 

The St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party has funded the purchase and the money has not been pulled out of any national development projects, The opposition sources are insisting that  the administration is distracted from the national development projects and focussed on party welfare which is not true. 

One of the main concerns of the opposition is the affordable housing projects and the construction of the Basseterre High School and the New Climate Smart Hospital. All of these projects were mentioned by name in some of the social media posts circulating on X and Facebook.

The posts seem to suggest that the construction or procurement of a party headquarters for the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party is somehow barring progress on the other projects. While the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party  is at the helm of the administration, the two things do not appear to have an either or connection. 

Such childish claims and prophecies are insulting to the sensibilities of the people of St Kitts and Nevis. To clarify, NHC is currently progressing rapidly on the construction of affordable homes in several communities across St Kitts and Nevis. 

The construction of the New Climate Smart Hospital is also very close to beginninng with several prerequisite approvals having come. However, it is also very important to understand that the scale of the project also determines its timeline.  

The construction or procurement of a building to become the permanent home base for SKNLP is a separate project and does not intrude on or tale away from national priorities. The headquarters should have been a welcome development for the nation. 

SKNLP is the oldest Labour Party in the english speaking caribbean and the procurement of a permanent home for such a legacy such as this should have been welcomed and not rediculed.
