The Minister of Education St Kitts and Nevis, Geoffrey Hanley led a group of Heads of Departments from the Ministry of Education on a crucial trip to several education institutions across the island. The visit was aimed towards checking on the progress made in the development of infrastructures of the educational organizations.
The Ministry of Education has shared some updates from the visit detailing that they visited the Christopher-Wilkin Institute of Technology (CWIT). The institution is going through significant equipment upgrades.
The equipment which is being upgraded includes a Virtual Welding Simulator allowing the students to weld using an electronic stimulating device. As part of this visit, the stakeholders of the Ministry also visited the island.
The Ministry has shared that they visited the construction site of the Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary School (JOWPS). According to the update shared by the Minister of Education, the construction at the school is progressing at a smooth and rapid pace.
The school’s construction is the government’s effort to provide a safe, modern, and supportive learning environment for students. The stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to improving educational infrastructure across St. Kitts and Nevis.
During the visits, the various Heads of Departments engaged in discussions with project managers and stakeholders. They were able to gain insights into the timelines for the completion of the projects
They also learned about the challenges that they come across during the course of construction. The members of the delegation which were on visit island wide said that their interactions helped them understand the scope and impact of the ongoing projects.
Finally, the stakeholders visited the proposed site for the installation of an electrical charging station.
The electrical vehicle charging station is intended to support the introduction of electric school buses. This programme will serve as a major step toward sustainability within the education sector. The project will also help to integrate environmentally friendly solutions into school transportation systems
