St Kitts and Nevis welcomed four cruise ships to the island on Tuesday, February 10. The island was scheduled to receive three cruise ships on Tuesday, however the unannounced arrival of Jewel of the Seas increased the number to four.
On Tuesday, the island saw the arrivals of AIDAblu, Viking Sea and Oceana Nautica and Jewel of the Seas. Aidablu sailed into the island with a total of 2,298 passengers, Viking Sea brought 906 passengers to the island on Tuesday.
Oceana Nautica, which was making its inaugural call to the island, sailed into Port Zante with 609 passengers. Finally, the surprise visit from the Jewel of the Seas brought another 2,361 passengers to the island.
The arrival of one inaugural call and one unscheduled call on Tuesday highlights the increasing relevance of the island’s tourism sector to the rest of the world. The nation has been getting noticed more and more for its unique offering and small size.
Travellers from all over the world are showing significant interest in visiting the island for its historical relevance. The officials have shared that most of the 6,174 passengers who came to the island on the four cruise ships came on ground.
The passengers had the opportunity to experience the island for all its offerings. The day was marked by less than ideal weather however, the tourists came ashore to explore and give business to the small traders across Port Zante.
The island has been seeing an increase in the number of cruise arrivals during this week. The week starting Sunday, the island has welcomed a total of 10 ships. In the last three days the island has seen and welcomed over 18,400 passengers to the island aboard these ten ships.
The rest of the week is also expected to be similarly busy for the island nation as the island is expected to welcome ten more cruise ships till Sunday.
