The Ministry of Environment, Climate Action and Constituency Empowerment has announced the calender of activities for the Environment Month 2026. The theme for the 2026 commemoration of the Environment Month is, “Climate Action: For Environment, For Empowerment, For Everyone.”
The event is being supported by the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank. The aim of the month long festivities is to highlight the importance of environmental stewardship and inspire public awareness, engagement, and active participation across the Federation.
The launch event will be hosted on June 5 2026 and will see the people of the island convening at the Independence Square.
The Environment Month 2026 will feature a number of events designed to educate and involve the people of the island in environmental protection activities. The aim of the Environment Month celebration is to:
- Celebrate the uniqueness and depth as well as the importance of environmental stewardship
- Strengthen connections between the Ministry od environment et al, and the general public of St Kitts and Nevis
- Encourage widespread participation of the public of the federationin environmental activities and initiatives.
- Showcase the work and dedication of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Actionet al, the Solid Waste Management Corporation, and the Parks and Beaches Unit.
The Calendar of Activities which will be hosted throughout the month of June will see events like community clean-ups. The Ministry will also organise social media challenges, a Forest Dash, school and youth-based engagements.
The youngsters of the country will be given the chance to participate in radio visits. The Environment Month will also see events being done in collaboration with the St. Kitts Music Festival and the Month’s flagship event, which is the Green Expo.
The Ministry wants to highlight that environmental awareness and action are collective responsibilities of the people. They also want to share that these responsibilities can be undertaken creatively, and in ways that are enjoyable.
