Dr Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of St Kitts and Nevis met with Sir Vivian Richards. The meeting and exchange of greetings took place on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Westminster Abbey.
Both Dr Douglas and Sir Vivian Richards were part of the Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration which happened earlier that day. The Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration was attended by several leaders, Ministers, dignitaries and representatives from the Commonwealth Nations.
The get together was a platform for celebrating the connection, partnerships and shared values among the member states. The event was a celebration of the shared values of democracy, development, and cooperation within the CARICOM.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs is currently in London as a representative of St Kitts and Nevis. He is accompanied by a delegation of high level officers and stakeholders who will be attending the Commonwealth Foreign Ministers Meeting.
The Minister has shared that the meeting was also convened on Monday, as a part of the Commonwealth Week activities in London. The Commonwealth Foreign Ministers Meeting served as a platform for foreign ministers from all over the Commonwealth member states to come together.
They can discuss and find the solutions to many important global and regional issues affecting the international community. The Commonwealth consists of 56 independent states and span across the globe with an estimated population of 2.5 billion.
The nations which form part of the Commonwealth come from Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Europe. On his arrival in London, Dr Douglas had made the call for the Commonwealth member states to come together to work on pressing matters of international importance.
Dr Douglas will be in London for the full duration of the Commonwealth Week activities. During this week, he will also be co-chairing the 12th UK–Caribbean Forum alongside David Lammy. The meeting will also serve as an opportunity for dialogue between the United Kingdom and Caribbean.
The event will be instrumental in strengthening diplomatic ties and advancing cooperation on matters of mutual interest.
