Subway has returned to St Kitts after a long time of no franchise on the island nation. The sandwich outlet opened its doors for the general public on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
The sandwich franchise had been opened in St Kitts in 2005 for the first time and the store went out of business in October 2019. After seven years, the franchise has been reopened under a different owner and at a different location.
The previous Subway was located at the corner of Victoria Road and Cayon Street in Basseterre. The restaurant has returned to its new location inside Port Zante. The operation is now running from the Champions Restaurants and Lounge complex.
The return of Subway to the island is a very monumental time for the nation and especially it’s moment for St. Kitts’ food and beverage sector. The opening of the sandwich outlet in the high-traffic Port Zante area, which serves as a major hub for cruise tourism and local commerce will also add to the hospitality of the island as many of the people are aware of the brand.
The new franchise owner is not related in any way to the old owners. According to him, the reopening represents a fresh start for the brand in the Federation. The restaurant will be staffed by nine local people who have undergone extensive training during the last several weeks.
The franchise has been dedicated to ensuring that the locals get the opportunities for employment on the island. The franchise owners have also shared that the quality of services is extremely important for the people of the island.
Subway first entered the St. Kitts market in 2004, but the franchise ceased operations in October 2019, with its final day of business on October 16, 2019.
With its reopening, Subway joins a growing list of international brands re-establishing a presence in St. Kitts, signaling renewed confidence in the local economy and the island’s tourism-driven commercial landscape.
