The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew is leading a delegation of officers to meet PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar of Trinidad and Tobago. The officials have shared that the visit will be part of the CARICOM Chairperson’s efforts to bring the whole region together.
Dr Drew’s outreach effort started with his trip to St Vincent and The Grenadines earlier this month. During this visit, Dr Drew met with the newly elected Prime Minister of St Vincent and The Grenadines.
During this visit, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis interacted with the Secretary General of CARICOM. The officials have shared that the visit is crucial as the region is going though a turbulent time.
The Governor General of the CARICOM will also be joining the Prime Minister for his outreach visit to Trinidad and Tobago. The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has pledged that he will be meeting with all the regional leaders as a part of his outreach effort.
The officials have shared the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad Bissessar and members of her cabinet will be receiving Dr Drew later this week. They will be discussing several matters of regional and international importance.
The Chair of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has been dedicated to making sure that the region enjoys stronger cooperation. The leaders from across Caribbean should be able to work together and take their shared regional priorities forward.
PM Terrance Drew took over as the Chairperson of the Caribbean Community on January 1, 2026. As one his first act in office, Dr Drew was faced with the attack in venezula and mobilizing the CARICOM in response to the escalating tensions.
Even before Dr Drew took the office of the CARICOM chair, solidarity and cooperation within the region was one of the most important goals he had been advocating for. Earlier this month, Dr Drew made visits to St Vincent and the Grenadines and Antigua and Barbuda in line with the rule of improving connectivity and collaboration.
The CARICOM Heads of State will meet for the 50th Regular Meeting of the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government in St Kitts and Nevis from February 24 to February 27.
