Dr Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has shared the details about the official sale of the marina assets and operations at Christophe Harbour. The sale of the Christophe Harbour operations has been made to the world-renowned Safe Harbor Marinas, LLC.
The Prime Minister believes that the country will be able to benefit from this new development. He believes that it is a decisive correction and strategic move to reverse several years of damage.
The previous government, according to PM Drew has been mismanaging the harbour for years and the operations of the harbour had been hidden from the general public. However, Dr Drew has assured the people that with this sale, Christophe Harbour will become a beacon for transparency.
The harbour is also expected to bring opportunity, and international prestige to the country under the present administration. In his national address, PM Drew noted that the new owners of Christophe Harbour, Safe Harbor Marinas, is the largest marina operator in the world.
The company owns a network of over 135 marinas globally, and handles more than 40,000 boat owners. With Safe Harbor, St Kitts and Nevis will have access to the platinum standard of yachting and maritime hospitality.
With the sale of the Christophe Harbour assets and operations, the harbour will also be transformed into premier destination. Talking about the sale of the harbour, PM Terrance Drew said that they had not made any hasty decisions.
He informed the people of the nation in his address that all the involved stakeholders took their time and reached an agreement. The discussions were detailed and thorough resulting in a deal that can benefit the people in tangible, measurable ways.
The Prime Minister asserted that they are committed to ensuring that people are given all the essential information regarding the workings of their government.
Prime Minister further informed the people that Safe Harbor Marinas will invest in the expansion of the Christophe Harbour Marina by about 40%. The island can expected more yachts, more traffic, more economic activity, starting November 2025. This will turn St. Kitts and Nevis into a premier yachting hub in the Caribbean.
Safe Harbour Marinas will also construct a brand-new desalination plant, to provide fresh water for the marina. This project will also be completed by November 2025. The island nation administration noted that marina operations will also employ locals from St Kitts and Nevis
