Sports Minister Samal Duggins, along with ministers of the cabinet of St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, Dr Denzil Douglas, Konris Maynard, and others, welcomed and facilitated St Kitts and Nevis Patriots back after their historic win in the inaugural chapter of SKYEXCH 6IXTY, over the Trinbago Knight Riders.
Minister of Sports took to his Facebook to share his appreciation for the patriots’ win. He shared photographs from the welcome back ceremony. In his Facebook post, he wrote:
This morning, we welcomed St. Kitts-Nevis Patriots Captain, Dwayne Bravo and Manager, Peter Abraham Jr to the Cabinet Chambers.
It was exciting to celebrate with them as the team recently won the first ever SKYEXCH 6IXTY Championship.
We look forward to rallying behind our Patriots during the upcoming CPL T20 Tournament.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots created history by winning the inaugural title of the SKYEXCH 6IXTY Tournament. The Innovative 10-over Cricket Tournament was hosted by veteran cricketer and Self-Proclaimed Universe Boss Chris Gayle, who chose to play for his home team, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
The first match of the SKYEXCH 6IXTY tournament was hosted on August 24 in Warner Park Cricket Stadium in St Kitts and Nevis.
The Patriots, who had faced a defeat at the hands of the Jamaica Tallawahs earlier in the competition, had their revenge on Sunday, August 28, when the team managed to defeat the Jamaicans in the First Semi-Finals and become the first team to confirm their spot in the tournament’s finale.
Conversely, in the second Semi-Final, Trinbago Knight Riders managed to secure a victory over the Barbados Royals.
The two teams then met in the Finals, where the Knight Riders gave a good and tough competition to the Patriots but fell short of winning, having secured 84 runs in the crucial match.
The self-proclaimed Universe Boss, Chris Gayle, struck the winning shots that led his team to victory.
Now, St Kitts and Nevis are ready to defend their crown in the upcoming Caribbean Premier League.
