A vehicle alleged to be owned by a Minister of Government in the CCM-led Nevis Island Administration was ordered released after it was impounded by police.
Several sources who have described the matter as “high-handed and double-standard,” disclosed that the vehicle was stopped by the Police on the Friday afternoon.
“The vehicle failed the five percent tint when tested by the Police. Instead of the 35 percent as permited by law, it was found to be 5 percent and the driver refused to remove the tint when requested to do so,” the sources said.
Accordingly the Police impounded the vehicle, which was being driven by a brother of the government minister.
“The brother called the minister to inform him that the vehicle was impounded. A call was made by the minister to the police superintendent who is in charge of Nevis and a directive was given to the officers to release the vehicle without the tint being removed,” the sources said.
