The sailors from St Kitts and Nevis have participated in the Budget Marine 23rd ILCA and 8th Optimist Open Regatta. The success of the youngsters marks a major development for the federation and its sailing sector.
The sailors have delivered very good performances at both the events with the best performance coming from Greyson Burrell. He was placed 1st in the Optimist Advanced fleet, delivering a strong performance. He was representing the St kitts Yacht Club and competed admirably against a number of sailors from across the region.
The young sailor from St Kitts and Nevis showed consistency and skil throughout the competition.
On the other hand, Abhijith Srinivasan was placed in the third spot at the ILCA 4.7 class. He was competing as a representative of the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center.
Notably, the achievement of Srinivasan was historic for the small island nation, He was the first sailor from the twin islands to reach the podium at the ILCA event at the regional level.
The St Kitts and Nevis Sailing Association has extended their best wishes to both the young sailors. They have hailed both the youngsters and called these achievements from both of them historic for the island.
They also said that the achievements will mean positive growth and recognition for sailing as a sport. The organization shared a statement in which they acknowledged the achievements of both the youngsters.
They also said that the credit for this victory lies with the local clubs, coaches and family members who have supported both Greyson and Abhijjith in their journeys. The St kitts and Nevis Sailing club also acknowledged the part that the Antigua Yacht Club and Katrl James played in organizing the event. They called the organized events successful on the regional front.
