The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew met with the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley. Dr Drew’s meeting with the newly re-elected Prime Minister of Barbados during the ceremonial opening of the Parliament of the country after the recent general elections in the country.
The officials have shared that the visit was part of the Prime Minister’s visits to CARICOM heads of states for regional outreach ahead of the 50th CARICOM Heads of the Government Summit.
The Prime Minister has shared that when he reached Barbados on Friday, he was able to hold discussions with the Prime Minister. He attended the ceremonial opening of the Barbados Parliament. Dr Drew said that this was a significant day for the nation.

Dr Drew has shared that he was honoured by the gesture from the Prime Minister of Barbados. He also highlighted that this also proves that the people of the Caribbean Community hold strong and deep regional bonds.

The Prime Minister has shared that he was also delighted to be in attendance at the event. He said that he was happy to see that the region has maintained the strongest bonds of solidarity with each other.
During the opening ceremony and his visit to Barbados, Dr Drew said that St Kitts and Nevis was committed to collaborative regional leadership during his tenure as Chairman.
The Minister has shared that the engagement was part of his dedication to making sure that he visits all the leaders of the Caribbean Community as part of his outreach initiative.
The Prime Minister has taken, in the last three days, three important meetings with the Prime Ministers of Bahamas, Jamaica and Barbados. The officials have shared that as the nation moves towards the CARICOM meeting, the Prime Minister is yet to visit Suriname and Guyana.
