The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew visited St Vincent and the Grenadines for a state visit. Later on the same day he visited Antigua and Barbuda The visit was part of the Prime Minister’s aim to promote regional solidarity and cooperation in the Caribbean.
This is the first state visit of the Prime Minister as the Chairperson of the CARICOM. Dr Drew met with the Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Goodwin Friday. The Secretary General of the CARICOM was also part of the meeting led by Dr Terrance Drew.
The Prime Ministers and Dr Barnette came together to be part of the Prime Minister’s mandate of improving interpersonal relations. the aim of the meeting was to take steps towards strengthening dialogue, trust, and coordination.
The Prime Minister believes that working on these priorities is crucial at this time when the region is going through uncertainties in the global stage. The officials have shared that the members of the community for the people of the island.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis believes that it is important for the Caribbean to think about deepening regional integration in practical and meaningful ways. The Chair of the CARICOM has been dedicated to making sure that the region understands the importance and benefits of regional collaborations.
The officials have shared that during the state visit and the meeting, the officials kept their focus on collective action in areas such as education, security cooperation, disaster response, economic coordination, and institutional collaboration.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has shared that as they move forward into his chairmanship, he is guided by purposeful leadership. His focus will remain on improving trade opportunities within the region, collective action and work that can directly improve the lives of the people of the Caribbean.
The Prime Minister also visited Antigua and Barbuda and met with the Prime Minister of the country, Gaston Brown and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, E. P. Chet Greene. The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis will be visiting other regions across the country as a part of his interpersonal approach for interacting with the leadership of other nations in a more productive manner.
