An old video of Natasha “Shanny” Grey-Brookes has resurfaced on the internet recently. In this video, the People’s Action Movement Leader asserted that she would be open to a Unity 3.0 coalition to defeat the incumbent labour government.

Unity Coalition government, which consisted of the three major national parties, People’s Action Movement (PAM), Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) and People’s Labour Party (PLP). The coalition government held the office for seven years, starting in 2015 to 2022.

The coalition government’s second term had been cut short when the People’s Labour Party (PLP) led by former Prime Minister Timothy Harris lost the faith of the other two Coalition partners. The Unity Coalition also lost the faith of the people during their seven year term in the high office.

The Unity Administration, during both the terms had been marked by years of scandals and infighting causing instability in the country. The leaders who were part of the party were unable to work together for the people of the country due to their personal and professional differences.

This led people to vote in the Labour Administration with a full majority in the 2022 elections. In light of this, PAM national leader, Natasha “Shanny” Grey-brookes, calling for a third stint for the Unity government seems like pushing the nation into uncertainty. There is no definitive way to know if Unity 3.0 will be as unstable as the previous term and half for which they had held the reins of the nation.

In the same video, she had called Labour a one term Administration, saying that she will not rest till she has the support of all the constituencies to defeat the Labour administration. Notably, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party is the only party that has held the government with full majority in the last decade.

This shows the faith of the people in the leadership that is working for them. Meanwhile, in the last three years of the St Kitts and Nevis labour party government, the leaders have delivered significant developments in various areas.

New and advanced equipment has been procured for the JNF General Hospital with several sections of the hospital getting a facelift. Cayon Community water supply crisis has been dealt with and the community has access to clean, safe water.

Advancements have also taken place in the sectors of sports and housing, with the construction and rehabilitation of stadiums across the country. More than 180 houses have been delivered to the people of St Kitts and Nevis over the past three years.

This actively shows that the Labour government working and delivering on their promises while the other parties are busy waging a war against them.
