St. Kitts and Nevis: Michael Martin- the Head of St. Kitts and Nevis termed “Protection, Adaptability and Resilience,” paramount for the Citizenship by Investment Programme of St. Kitts and Nevis during Investment Gateway Summit 2024.
Speaking at the summit, he said that these three things are significant and make the programme evolve with time. Reflecting the feedback the CBI received, Michael Martin stated that their priority is to enhance the professionalization of the programme due to which the government has passed the Citizenship by Investment Unit Act.
This is the legal development and tremendous reinforcement of the CBI Programme. Another important aspect is that the current government department that oversees the CBI Programme of St. Kitts and Nevis– CIU is being maintained by Statutory Cooperation.
He further highlighted some of the points of the operation of the programme said that there is a need of the management and staff performance to further elevate the CBI, and the unit will also introduce performance incentives for employees
“The CIU Statutory Cooperation will report to the Prime Minister and the National Assembly of St Kitts and Nevis, aiming to make to transparent,”said the Head.
Talking about new initiatives, He said that the government is all set to establish Continuing International Due Diligence Unit (CIDD), effective from July 31, 2024 with headqurter set in Europe.
The unit will conduct global checks on the St. Kitts and Nevis economic citizens and enhance the due diligence aspect. It is necessary to protect the reputation of the country and ensure the best practices for the locals.
Michael Martin also expressed pride in the way the Citizenship by Investment Programme of St. Kitts and Nevis have been preforming at the global stage. He talked about the accolades the programme has received in recent times and said that the CBI Programme was ranked at number 1 in the CBI Index 2024 once again.
Martin talked about the World Citizenship Report 2024 in which the CBI Programme ranked well among the five motivators.
The summit will showcase the offerings of St. Kitts and Nevis and why the Citizenship by Investment Programme is the most sought after. “The unit has always tried to ensure the best practices for the CBI and with new regulations, we continued to the meet the requirements of the investors via innovations and enhanced due diligence approach.”
“I have worked tirelessly to ensure that the CBI Programme meets the international standards which includes the increasing minimum investment thresholds, and implementation of the mandatory interviews.”
Since 2022, the programme has experienced numerous regulations and changes in order to pave the successful path of the sustainable mission. He stressed the investment in the sustainability of the island nation and said that investors should invest in Sustainable Island State Contribution, which replaced, Sustainable Growth Fund.
On the other hand, the Public Benefit Option is the investment option of the programme is designed to benefit the public of St. Kitts and Nevis. He further recognized the real estate partners of the programme and lauded them for their trust in the country.
Michael Martin asserted that the real estate projects are significant to enhance the socio-economic aspect of St. Kitts and Nevis with the job creations, and tourism boost.
