Minister of State Isalean Phillip updated the nation on the ongoing work within the Ministries of Youth Empowerment and Social Development, Gender Affairs, Ageing and Disabilities.
In the opening statement, she highlighted the plans for improving poverty alleviation.
The program has served over 55 hundred people since the last payment, and they look forward to maintaining the numbers until the end of the year.
“As we continue to work on the program, we have sought some expertise from social policy and programs. We search for technical expertise from UNICEF,” quoted the Minister.
Over two weeks ago, Island consulted with the social service delivery in St Kitts and Nevis.
They have been collecting data on how they can improve the program and correct any misinformation on targeting people to be removed from the program. The only removal happening is based on verification progress that is taken monthly on who needs to be removed and the deceased one to be removed
so that others can benefit from the program.
Last Friday, several graduates took a 3-week training course to improve their skills and resumes. They also had a session with a small business interested in the program.
In addition, on November 19, men’s day, they will organise a competition where men will cook and participate in different activities.
Youth Empowerment is going to hold events in celebration of Youth Month. The youth have submitted the painting and will be up for the month. The minister has advised people to purchase and support the children.
An exhibition showcasing young people’s creative talent is on display for November at the Department of Youth Empowerment located on the top floor of the Cable building on Cayon Street.
The Youth Art Exhibition features a variety of artwork by young people, including some high school students. Scenes portrayed include historical sites, green energy, resource conservation, and areas of natural beauty.
Minister of State responsible for Youth Empowerment, Isalean Phillip, said the initiative to celebrate Youth Month’s activities nurtures students’ creative energies.
“I just want to encourage persons to pop by and check it out,” said Honourable Phillip at the Prime Minister’s Press Conference on November 7.
The paintings are for sale, and the compensation will go to students. So, if anyone likes an artwork, they have been encouraged to purchase it, and that money will go directly to the artist who created it.
There is no admission fee. The exhibition will be mounted up until November 30. Persons can stop by during the opening hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
