New York: The Government of St Kitts and Nevis and the Government of the Republic of Lebanon have formally established diplomatic relations. The formalization took place on Wednesday 24 July, 2024.
The diplomatic relations were made official during a Signing Ceremony at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Lebanon to the United Nations.
The Joint Communiqué was signed by Dr Mutryce Williams, Permanent Representative of St Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations. She was joined by Hadi Hachem, Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Lebanon to the United Nations.
During the signing ceremony both the Ambassadors discussed vital issues of mutual interests including the promotion of tourism and bilateral trade.
The signing of visa waiver agreements and the appointment of honorary consuls in their respective Capitals, to enhance cooperation between both countries was also discussed.
The establishment of diplomatic relations between the nation of St Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of Lebanon, is important.
The Federation continues its efforts to further expand its diplomatic relations, while strengthening and deepening its relations with international partners for the advancement of the twin-island Federation.
In addition to this, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Terrance Drew and his administration has been doing several efforts to address the issues of crime prevention in the country. The Prime Minister recently gave remarks and addressed about the rising crime in St Kitts and Nevis.
In addition to this, PM Drew in his address mentioned that he has been hosting weekly meeting with the National Security Council that aims to implement and discuss important preventive measures to fight the rising crime in the country.
