The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Terrance drew appeared in a radio interview on August  28 and discuss several issues of national importance.  He spoke during the interview about the importance of furthering Caribbean Africa relations.

The Prime Minister updated the people of St Kitts and Nevis on  the progress that has already been made in this regard. The Prime Minister recalled that they have entered into a collaboration with the University of Cape Coast in Ghana to create a Caribbean Center.

Through this collaboration, the country became the first one ton take the initiative of bridging the divide between the Caribbean and Africa. The Prime Minister is advocating for the presence of an ambassador from the African Union in the CARICOM and vice versa.

The Prime Minister reasoned that the other of the countries across the globe are looking into ways to tap into Africa. They are also utilizing the potential of the the continent for the betterment of their country so the same can be done from the Caribbean.

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew highlighted that the Caribbean has ancestral ties with the Caribbean should use their ties to benefit themselves as well as the Caribbean. The African Continent is a mine of resources, culture, history and more.

The officials have shared that it is important for Caribbean and the African Continents to collaborate on developmental initiatives. He highlighted that he had the opportunity to meet with the President of Nigeria.

President Tinubu also visited Saint Lucia in July and met with the leaders of the Caribbean. Prime Minister shared that he was proud to have been the one to think of initiating a collaborative relationship between St Kitts and Nevis and Nigeria.

During his trip to Saint Lucia last month where he met with the President of Nigeria, he discussed the possibility of getting visa access for St Kitts and Nevis nationals to travel to Nigeria without restrictions.

Dr Drew also highlighted that the Minister of foreign affairs is travelling to Nigeria during the next month, which will be another positive step in the direction of strengthening St Kitts and Nevis-Nigeria ties.
