Jennie, from Blackpink, has been making headlines once again with the release of her new song “Like Jennie”. A 9 second long trailer was released on social media on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, days before the release of the song on Friday, March 7th, 2025.
Most Korean and international fans praised her and the song but some Indian fans called her out, stating that the song sounds exactly like the theme song of Rani, an Indian character from the movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023).
The Korean singer Jennie has been receiving plagiarism allegations for copying a song which was composed by an Indian musician, Pritam. A fan commented on the trailer on X (formerly known as Twitter) and said that she can’t believe that Jennie is plagiarizing Pritam, out of all, Bollywood out of all.

The 9 second trailer for the song features thumping beats and vocals saying “Jennie”. According to the fans, the beat and flow of the song is similar to the Indian song, a fact noticed by most of the singer’s Indian fans.
The singer is now receiving backlash by her fans who are calling her shameless for copying another song’s vocals, beats, and flow.

Jennie Kim, born in 1996 in Gyeonggi, South Korea, is a singer, rapper, and actress. The singer debuted as a member of Blackpink in August 2016, under the name Jennie. She made her acting debut in 2023 in HBO’s television series, The Idol.
Jennie released her first solo song “Solo” in November 2018 which topped South Korea’s Circle Digital Chart and the US Billboard World Digital Songs Chart.
Her solo debut song was the first Korean female soloist to surpass one billion views on YouTube. Her other singles, “You & Me” and “One of the Girls” also achieved worldwide recognition.
