The Union Home Ministry of India has published a year-end review of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The review report has detailed that terror incidents have reduced in numbers due to the efforts of security agencies. The year in review further noted that the Security Forces working in the Union Territory Region have the terror incidents under control.
Further, the review also included some statistics for the Union Territory. According to the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, Terrorism incidents have reduced by up to 54% in the last year. Additionally, there is a reduction of a massive 84% in the deaths of security officers in Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, terrorist recruitment has also seen a decline of 22%
During the 2022 review meeting, The Union Home Minister stated that he appreciated the efforts of the security agencies. The efforts have led to a visible reduction of terrorism-related incidents in the union territory.
Talking about the situation of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, before the Narendra Modi Led government, Home Minister Amit Shah stated that over 42,000 people died in Jammu and Kashmir no one in Delhi acted. However, he pointed out that under the Modi Government, the situation is improving.
The Ministry of Home Affairs published several statistics related to terror incidents. At the same time, he noted that the security grid in the region needs to strengthen further to ensure zero cross-border infiltration and complete elimination of terrorism.
Minister Amit Shah further took a dig at the former government, stating that earlier, J & K was a terrorism hotspot, but now it has turned into a tourism hotspot. In the review meeting, Home Minister Shah also noted no stone-pelting incidents in the Union territory. He credited this development to the Modi Government, stating that the administration is on track for growth in the union territory.
Additionally, he talked about the various investments made by the central government, stating that in the last three years, the Modi-led Administration has brought over 56,000 crore worth of investment in Jammu and Kashmir. Recently, Home Minister Amit Shah also inaugurated a development project (oct 2022).
He reminded the security forces to work proactively towards bringing peace to Jammu and Kashmir
