British Member of Parliament Nadine Dorries who is also a minister in the health department, has tested positive for coronavirus.
The MP disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday and in the statement, she raised concerns regarding the possibility of the senior government figures being infected.
The MP said that she could confirm that she had tested positive for coronavirus and also that she has been self-isolating herself at home.
She also told that health officials are now trying to trace where she contracted the virus.
Till date, around six people have already died in Britain from the novel coronavirus, and the nation has more than 370 confirmed cases of the virus.
Dorries had helped craft the legislation to fight the virus, and she is going to be the first British politician to be diagnosed with COVID-19 coronavirus.
It has been reported that she had been in touch with Prime Minister Boris Johnson and hundreds of other people.
The MP fell ill on Friday while she was signing the document that declared coronavirus a notifiable disease which would mean that the companies could obtain insurance cover.
A noticeable fact is that she is on her road to recovery from the virus.
She said that she would like to thank the excellent NHS staff who provided her with the best and necessary advice and support.
This news is for sure shocking, and it is very likely that it would increase calls to suspend parliament, although the Government’s hesitant to do so in the middle of this health crisis.
Dorries’ boss, Matt Hancock, tweeted that he was sorry to hear that Nadine has tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19.
He also said in his tweet that she had done the right thing by self-isolating herself at home, and both the NHS and Public Health England staff have been excellent.
He also said that everything possible would be done to keep the people safe, based on the best possible science.
