The Order Paper was circulated for a sitting of the National Assembly which is to be held at the National Assembly Chambers at Government Headquarters in Basseterre, on 3rd September, 2020 at 10:00 am. 

Notice has been given.

The Honourable Dr. Timothy Harris, Prime Minister and Minister responsible for Finance, Sustainable Development, National Security, People’s Empowerment and Constituency Empowerment, would seek leave to introduce and have read a first time Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (Judicial Officers Pensions) Bill, 2020; Advance Cargo Information Bill, 2020 and National Assembly Elections (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

Also, the Honourable Prime Minister would move the second reading of the Advance Cargo Information Bill, 2020.

The Advance Cargo Information Bill, provides for the provision of advance information regarding the passengers and cargo of a conveyance. 

The Advance Cargo Information Bill is similar to the advance passenger information system legislation which is in place in St Kitts and Nevis and the ACIS law should enhance the border security control efforts of the Federation in relation to the movement of cargo and certain passenger information which would be needed by the Customs Department.

It is anticipated that the bill would receive the 1st and 2nd readings during the next meeting of the National Assembly.

The National Assembly Elections (Amendment) Bill, 2020, is a Bill which would provide for the length of stay which would qualify ddifferent persons to vote in the Federation. 

The National Assembly Elections (Amendment) Bill was read a first time in the meeting of the National Assembly on the 13thAugust, and must therefore be withdrawn and replaced with this new version, which will have only a first reading.

The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (Judicial Officers Pensions) Bill, 2020, will provide for gratuities and pensions payable to the judicial officers of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
