As a part of celebrations for their upcoming Independence Day, St Kitts and Nevis hosted a wellness walk in the sister islands under SKN Moves’ initiative. This initiative aims to create a healthy lifestyle culture centred on healthy eating practices, regular physical activity and routine health checks/screenings.

A large number of citizens and residents from all walks of life came out early on Saturday, September 10, 2022, for the Independence Wellness Challenge Walk.

The Wellness walk was a part of the itinerary of events that St Kitts and Nevis have established as a part of the celebration of the 39th anniversary of the independence of St Kitts and Nevis.

The SKN moves initiative was established by the health ministry, St Kitts and Nevis, to empower the people of St Kitts and Nevis to be more physically active in their daily lives and make healthier eating choices.

The citizens will be able to do this by taking advantage of the increased availability of accessible, safe and enabling physical environments and improved food security. Thus making a healthy choice is easy and affordable for them.

The cabinet of ministers had visited Primary schools in the eastern and western zones of St Kitts.

A number of Political leaders and Ministers of St Kitts and Nevis took to their Social Media Profiles to share glimpses of the various event happening in St Kitts and Nevis as part of the celebrations of the approaching Independence Day.

Deputy Prime Minister Dr Geoffery Hanley took to his Facebook to share glimpses from the event that took place on Saturday, September 10, and wrote: The Independence Wellness Challenge Walk this morning was a success. Many persons came out to participate. It was a refreshing moment for many persons who attended.

Dr Denzil Douglas and Minister of Sports Samal Duggins also took to their social media to share glimpses from their visit to the primary schools

Minister Duggins wrote: Yesterday, the A-Team visited several schools around St. Kitts including the Cayon Primary, Violet Petty Primary, Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary and the Estridge Primary School.

It is essential that we fortify our Nation by investing our time into its greatest resource- the children.

Dr Denzil Douglas also took to his Social Media to share glimpses from the cabinet’s visit to the Primary Schools, he wrote: Pre-Independence Visit to Primary Schools….
