St. Kitts and Nevis: The construction of the MRI building at the JNF General Hospital has begun in St. Kitts and Nevis. The update of the construction was revealed by PM Drew on his social media on 25 June, 2024.

The project commenced back in March 2024 when Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew revealed the site for the building. The building is expected for completion by the end of the year 2024.

The MRI building is being constructed at the ground level of the JNF Hospital aiming to place the MRI machine which was obtained earlier this year.

The project is also expected to bring about a number opportunities of employment and skilled jobs for the community of St. Kitts and Nevis.

During a press conference in February 2024, Prime Minister Drew announced the completion of the procurement process of the MRI machine and also said that the building will help the government to provide accommodation for the machine.

The procurement of the machine was revealed way back in August 2020. The intention of the acquisition of the machine was to redefine healthcare quality across the island of St. Kitts and Nevis.  The addition of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine at the hospital will result in the better quality of healthcare.

Dr. Terrance Drew also noted that the cost of the MRI machine would be as low as possible so that no one in the nation is deprived of the facility of MRI just due to the lack of financial resources.

The machine will be made accessible and affordable for all the citizens of the country.

In addition to healthcare sector development, PM Terrance Drew also mentioned the other construction projects that are ongoing in St. Kitts and Nevis. He also shared highlights of the St. Peter’s Road, and remarked that satisfactory work has already been done.
