The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, recently met the Ambassador of Singapore to CARICOM and Japan in a crucial bilateral meeting. The two diplomats paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister ahead of the Forty-fifth meeting of the heads of state of the Caribbean Community.
The two leaders interacted with the prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis on pertinent issues of national importance. The meeting occurred on June 3, 2023, during the prime Minister’s visit to Trinidad and Tobago for the 45th Regular Meeting of the Conference of the Heads of Government of CARICOM.
First, Dr Terrance Drew interacted with the Ambassador of Singapore to the Caribbean Community, Karen Tan. During his significant meeting, Dr Drew and Ambassador Tan discussed areas of mutual interest to both states. They discussed the desire to deepen cooperation and relationship with one another.
Further, Dr Drew met with the Ambassador of Japan, Yukata Matsubara, ahead of the 45th Regular Meeting of the Conference of the Heads of Government of CARICOM. The Ambassador informed the Prime Minister regarding the ongoing implications of the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster.
The disaster in question took place 12 years ago. During his meetings with both ambassadors, Prime Minister took the opportunity to share with them the Government’s thrust to transform St Kitts and Nevis into a Sustainable Island State.
Dr Terrance Drew reinforced the necessity of partnerships and cooperation to achieve the tenets of the energy transition, digital transformation, water management, and food security. The Prime Minister also shared some images from the two bilateral meetings on his social media account.
He expressed that The Opening Ceremony of the 45th Regular Meeting of the Conference of the Heads of Government of the CARICOM was hosted by the various Caribbean Leaders in Trinidad and Tobago at 4:30 PM on Monday, July 3, 2023.
