A shift system has been implemented by the Ministry of Education in several secondary and primary schools in St. Kitts due to the spatial issues concerning social and physical distancing protocols.
The Washington Archibald and Basseterre High Schools, and the Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School and the Sandy Point, Tucker Clarke and Dr William Connor Primary Schools would be a part of the shift system when the schools reopen in September 2020.
Dr Debbie Isaac, Chief Education Officer, said at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) COVID-19 Briefing that they are trying to crave the understanding of students and parents within the high schools as work would start in the TVET spaces.
She added that this is to help provide for better classrooms that are conducive to learning. So, we will have to endure a bit of inconvenience just for a few months because we are grateful for this.
Dr Isaac said that parents would receive additional information regarding the shift system at the respective PTA meetings.
All the teachers are expected to report to their schools on September 07 and 08, while students of the primary and secondary schools along with Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School will return on September 09. Early Childhood institutions would return in full on September 07.
