Basseterre, St Kitts: Mikyle Louis, the right-handed batsman, creates new history for the cricket fraternity in St. Kitts as he earns a place on the prestigious West Indies Test Cricket Team. PM Terrance Drew and other ministers extend heartfelt congratulations to both the player and the nation.
The news that Louis will be chosen for the upcoming test series versus traditional rivals England is a tremendous individual achievement and certainly a major milestone for the cricket fraternity in the region.
Many people see Louis graduating to the senior West Indies team as a big achievement and it makes the people of St. Kitts proud and excited.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew took a moment to personally extend his heartfelt congratulations to Mikyle Louis, acknowledging him as the first Kittian to join the West Indies Men’s Cricket Team.
“Your admission to the team is significant and means a lot to our young people, especially young men,” delightfully expressed PM Drew.
Minister’s reaction to the historic achievement:
Samal Duggins, Minister of Sports, and other dignitaries united in joy to commemorate Mikyle’s remarkable achievement.
“This historic achievement is a testament to your hard work, dedication, and exceptional talent. Your journey has been an inspiration to us all, proving that with determination and perseverance, our dreams are within reach,” added Minister Samal Duggins.
Denzil Llewellyn Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs, added in the celebration of Mikyle’s achievement, “As Kittians and as a Federation, we are extremely excited that the day has come when our very own Mikyle makes his debut on the West Indies Team.”
Konris G M Maynard, Minister of Public Infrastructure et al. also extended his warm wishes to Mikyle, saying, “I want to wish him every success, and may this be the start of an incredible and successful Professional Cricket Career.”
Dr. Groffrey Hanley, Deputy Prime Minister also glorified Mikyle’s achievement and said, “The entire East Basseterre Community is super proud of Mikyle. We continue to shower God’s Blessings and protection over his life. I can say without a reservation that he will be a great addition to the team.”
He also gave a special shout-out to his great-grandmother, Violet Eddy, a household name in the Newton community and a devout sports enthusiast.
While Nevis has had several representatives on the West Indies senior side, this marks the first time there is a representative from the sister island of St. Kitts. With anticipation mounting for his debut, Louis showcases the aspirations and dreams of aspiring cricketers across the nation.
