Air Canada has announced that services to St Kitts and Nevis would be suspended due to an increase of COVID-19 cases around the world. The airline confirmed the suspension in a statement posted on Tuesday, claiming that it is “ceasing flights to St Kitts and Nevis.”
The final flight from Canada to St. Kitts & Nevis will depart on January 30, 2022. Unforeseen circumstances have once again rocked the travel business, according to the Canadian Air Carrier.
“The increase is exacerbating the situation; the Canadian federal government has reinstated its advisory against non-essential foreign travel for Canadians,” Air Canada said.
“As a result, Air Canada/Air Canada Vacations has chosen to terminate operations to St. Kitts, with the final northbound flight scheduled for January 30, 2022,” the airline added, citing coronavirus infections as the reason.
Lindsay F.P. Grant, Minister of Tourism, Transport, and Ports, expressed optimism that Air Canada will restart service once the caseload drops globally.
“We appreciate your patience and cooperation as Air Canada works to cancel flights in the order of departure dates,” Grant wrote.
He also thanked the country’s tourist stakeholders for their contributions to St Kitts and Nevis’ economic resurgence.
“I’d want to express my sincere gratitude to our tourism stakeholders and locals for their remarkable contributions to our recovery thus far.” “We are hopeful that our valued Air Canada partners will restore service as soon as possible,” the Minister of Tourism remarked.
