The American cable network has announced the return of the HBO hit series ‘The Last of Us’ with its highly awaited season 2 on April 13, 2025. The show stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey and is based on PlayStation’s popular video game of the same name.
The show first premiered on HBO in 2023 and received popular reviews from the audiences, leading to its renewal for a second season.
HBO posted the show’s return on Instagram with a poster of the characters and captioned it, “Every path has a price”, followed by “#TheLastOfUs returns April 13 on Max”.
Premise of Season 2 of The Last of Us
The show will be set 20 years after the destruction of modern civilization as shown in season 1 of the show. It will follow the life of Joel (Pascal), a survivor who gets hired to smuggle 14 year old Ellie (Ramsey) out of an oppressive quarantine zone.

Both Joel and Ellie end up in a conflict with each other and in a world that is more dangerous and unpredictable than the quarantine zone they just escaped.
