Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: The individuals are called out to apply for the position of Plant Supervisor for the first Desalination Plant, which is about to be build in the twin-island Federation. Candidates are reminded to submit their application before May 8, 2024.

The Human Resource Management Department requires suitable and qualified person, who will willing to work on odd hours as well for the smooth execution of the plant. Following are the basic requirement and key responsibilities of Plant Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. He or she will be responsible for the daily operations of a desalination plant
  2. To ensure clean or potable drinking water
  3. Should maintain safety protocols and regulatory standards
  4. Ability to achieve targets and operational goals
  5. The person should be responsible for all the instructions given to the personnel under their charge
  6. Installation and maintenance of filters, membranes, pumps and other equipment
  7. The supervisor should make a plan of routine work and coordinate with the team during tasks, schedules, and inspection
  8. They must keep an eye on the reliability of the equipment, minimize downtime, and expand lifespan of plant assets
  9. There should be a stock of necessary materials such as spare parts and tools
  10. Cross-check of the records of readings of gauges, meters, water quality testing, reservoirs and filters
  11. Monitor working time of the employees
  12. He/ she should keep proper record of expenditure on installation of the plant equipment and its maintenance

Qualifications and Experience:

  • The candidates must acquire degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Plumbing and Pipefitting from a Technical College
  • They should must have 3 years of experience in the Mechanical or water Industry

The salary will range between K28- K32 ($53,256 – $61,812) per annum.

It is to be noted that the individuals must carry Letter of Application, Curriculum Vitae, Police Record, certified copies of official academic certificates, transcripts or other relevant documents while visiting to the Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Public Infrastructure.

In addition, recently Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew inaugurate the installation of Solar Powered Desalination Plant, which was donated by UAE to St. Kitts and Nevis. The plant constructs on 4 acres of land, out of which 1 acre will be used for the building project.

It is one of the initiatives to the fulfilment of sustainable island state agenda of the country. The plant is expected to be complete by June 2024.
