St Kitts and Nevis: St. Kitts and Nevis’ Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hazel Laws, stated that the country has confirmed another international imported case of coronavirus in the federation, which takes the total count of positive cases to 26.
Nonetheless, 23 of the cases have officially recovered with zero mortality rate in the federation.
On December 09, 2020, at the COVID-19 press briefing from the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), Dr Laws announced that the 26th positive case arrived in the Federation on November 25, from the United States of America. The person was isolated in Nevis and is now in quarantine.
Authorities preceded and extensively planned for a surge in COVID-19 cases following the reopening of the borders to local and foreign travellers on October 31, 2020.
Since then, the cases rose from 19 to 26. This is the fourth declared case since a December 05 press statement from the Ministry of Health asserted that three imported cases were identified.
“I want to reassure the general public that these extra imported cases have been in isolation since they reported on the Federation,” Dr Laws said.
When a person is confirmed as positive, he or she is then placed in quarantine.
“We now have 3 individuals in isolation,” symbolised Dr Laws, which highlights the successful revival of some of the recent confirmed cases.
The Chief Medical Officer transcribed that testing continues. As of a day before (December 09), 4,335 persons have been tested for the COVID-19, five results are pending.
