According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Jamaica has recorded eight new COVID-19 related deaths and 131 new cases of the infection on Friday.
The deceased are a 52-year-old female, a 92-year-old female, a 72-year-old male, a 58-year-old male, a 60-year-old female and a 44-year-old male, all belonging to St Andrew and Kingston.
The other deceased include a 22-year-old male of a St Catherine address and a 48-year-old male of a Manchester address.
The Health and Wellness Ministry revealed that seven out of the eight deceased also suffered from comorbidities.
The latest deaths have brought the death toll from the coronavirus in Jamaica to 88.
The 131 new confirmed COVID-19 cases brought the total number of cases on record for Jamaica to 5,854. Recoveries have increased by 128, and the total recoveries have become 1,624.
Eighty persons out of the new cases are males, and 51 are females, and their ages range from three years to 95 years.
The cases were recorded in St Catherine (46), St Elizabeth (10), Clarendon (eight), Manchester (seven), Kingston and St Andrew (34), Trelawny (seven), St James (six), Portland (three), two each for St Mary and St Thomas, Westmoreland (five), and St Ann (one).
No new cases were recorded in Hanover.
Six critically ill patients and twenty-five moderately ill patients are among the 4,058 active cases now under observation in Jamaica.
