Basseterre: Mental Health continues to be a silent threat to our people in St. Kitts and Nevis, and across the Caribbean. It may be as a result of our historical strife, our perceived strength, and the stigma that goes with what ‘mental health’ means, why we continue to ignore it, but these circumstances do not negate the fact that mental health is real, and it continues to affect and conquer so many persons in our community.

As we observe World Mental Health Day today, October 10th, the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party urges each and every one of you to firstly, educate yourselves on the many causes, signs, and types of mental health, and then look within your circle, your family, and/or your community for persons who stand a chance, or those who might already be victims of this cognitive ailment, and DO SOMETHING!

Under the theme ‘Tools 2 Thrive’ the SKNLP is committed to do whatever we can and provide practical tools that everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase their resiliency regardless of their personal situation.

This year especially, as we are still experiencing the mental, social, physical, and financial aches of COVID-19, we understand that there are many amongst us who may be at the tipping point. We use this day to remind our people, the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, that the SKNLP is here to assist whenever, however, and wherever we can.
